An outstanding example of the M31 German Infantry canteen. The wool felt cover is in excellent condition. No holes or stains. The snaps retain 90% plus original black paint. The aluminum canteen is marked SEL 740.. July 1940 manufacture. The leather harness, which is supple and solid,  is also marked. Lots of reproductions out there, but this one is 100% original Wehrmacht issued equipment made in the earlier years of the war.
